Fiat Motorhome - Thetford 3 Way Fridge Error Code 3 (Gas Operation) (N4175A)

This Guide explains what to check if the Thetford N4175A 3-way fridge displays Error Code 3.

Error Code 3 generally indicates that the fridge has been unable to operate correctly on gas.

Fridge operation

For normal operation, leave the fridge in Auto Mode where possible.

When the engine is switched off and the vehicle is not connected to 240V power, the fridge will automatically attempt to operate on LPG.

Before troubleshooting

Make sure:

If the vehicle is more than approximately 3° out of level, the fridge may not cool correctly.

Check the LPG bottle

Open the LPG storage compartment.
Check that the gas hose is firmly connected to the LPG bottle.
Make sure the bottle valve is fully open.
If necessary, close the valve, check the connection, reconnect it securely, and reopen the valve.

Do not overtighten the gas connection.

Confirm gas is reaching the motorhome

A simple way to check the LPG supply is to test the cooktop.

If the stove does not light, the issue is likely with the LPG supply rather than the fridge.

Check the gas bottle, connection, and gas valves before attempting the fridge again.

Reset the fridge

Once you have confirmed that LPG is available:

It may take several attempts if there is air in the gas line after changing or reconnecting an LPG bottle.

The fridge can take approximately 6–8 hours to cool properly on its initial cycle
