Fiat Motorhome - Thetford 3 Way Fridge User Guide (N4175A)

This Guide explains how to operate the Thetford N4175A Fridge, select the correct power source, and identify common error codes.

Recommended setting – Automatic Mode

Where possible, leave the fridge in Automatic Mode (A) for the duration of your journey.

Automatic Mode will select the most suitable available power source depending on whether the motorhome is driving, connected to 240V power, or using LPG.

Fridge power modes

The fridge has three main power sources:

1. 12V Battery Mode – for use while driving only.

2. LPG Gas Mode – for use when parked and gas is available.

3. 240V Mains Mode – for use when connected to a powered site.

12V Battery Mode

1. Start the vehicle engine.

2. Turn the fridge on.

3. Select the battery symbol.

4. Use this mode while the vehicle is travelling.

Important: 12V is designed primarily to maintain the fridge temperature while driving. It is not the recommended mode for initially cooling a warm fridge.

LPG Gas Mode

1. Make sure the vehicle is safely parked and level within 3 degrees.

2. Open the LPG bottle compartment.

3. Turn the gas bottle on.

4. Make sure the gas isolation valve is facing the bottle you wish to use.

5. Turn the fridge on.

6. Select the gas/flame symbol.

If the fridge does not ignite, check that the gas bottle and isolation valve are fully open.

240V Mains Mode

1. Connect the motorhome to a powered site using the 240V power lead.

2. Make sure the campground power outlet is switched on.

3. Check that the vehicle's 240V breakers are on.

4. Turn the fridge on.

5. Select the plug symbol.

Cooling time

Allow up to 8 hours for the fridge to cool properly on its initial cooling cycle with either Gas or 240V.

For best results:

• Pre-cool the fridge before loading food.

• Do not overload the fridge.

• Leave space around food for cold air to circulate.

• Keep the motorhome reasonably level when parked (within 3 degrees for best results).

Common error codes

If a spanner/wrench symbol appears, check the number displayed:

• Error 10 – 240V power error: Check the external 240V connection, campground outlet, power lead, and vehicle breakers.

• Error 3 – LPG gas error: Check that the gas bottle is turned on and the isolation valve is open.

• Error 6 – 12V error: Make sure the vehicle engine is running and the fridge has a valid 12V supply.

After correcting the cause, reset the fridge by holding down the power button for 10 straight seconds ( this timing is important)  and allow it to attempt operation again.

Important note

For normal use, Automatic Mode is recommended as it allows the fridge to change between available power sources automatically.
