This article explains how to disconnect the LDV Rover vehicle battery to complete an electrical reset.
This reset may help clear temporary electrical faults or warning messages after low voltage.
Important safety information
Only complete this reset while the vehicle is parked safely, in Park, with the handbrake applied and the ignition switched off.
Do not touch loose wiring or remove battery cables with tools. Only use the battery disconnect terminal shown in the video.
Step 1: Switch off the vehicle
Park the vehicle safely.
Apply the handbrake.
Turn the ignition off.
Remove the key from the ignition.
Make sure all lights and accessories are switched off.
Step 2: Locate the vehicle battery
Open the front cab door.
Locate the vehicle battery under the front seat area.
Find the battery kill switch fitted near the battery. ( As shown in the video )
Step 3: Disconnect the battery
Turn or release the battery kill switch as shown in the video.
Step 4: Leave disconnected
Leave the battery disconnected for 30 minutes.
This allows the vehicle’s electrical system to fully reset.
Step 5: Reconnect the battery
Turn the battery kill switch back to the on position
Step 6: Restart the vehicle
Turn the ignition on.
Start the engine.
Check the dashboard for any warning messages.
Some warning lights may appear briefly after the battery has been disconnected.
Step 7: Clear steering calibration warning
If a steering warning appears after reconnecting the battery:
Keep the vehicle stationary.
Turn the steering wheel fully in one direction.
Turn the steering wheel fully in the opposite direction.
Return the steering wheel to the centre.
Check whether the warning has cleared.
