LDV Rover - What To Do In the Event of an Engine Light

This article explains what to check if an engine light appears on the LDV Rover dashboard.

The video shows how to check the coolant reservoir, oil dipstick, trip information, and AdBlue level before sending photos to Cruisin’ On Road Care.

Important safety information

If the vehicle has loss of power, overheating, smoke, fluid leaking, unusual noises, or a red warning light, stop driving as soon as it is safe and contact Cruisin’ On Road Care.

If the vehicle is driving normally and the engine light is amber, complete the checks below and send photos through for assessment.

Step 1: Check the engine light

  1. Safely park the vehicle.

  2. Apply the handbrake.

  3. Check the dashboard warning light.

  4. Take a photo of the engine light or warning message shown on the dash.

Step 2: Open the bonnet

  1. Open the driver’s door.

  2. Pull the bonnet release lever inside the cab.

  3. Go to the front of the vehicle.

  4. Release the bonnet safety catch.

  5. Lift the bonnet and secure it with the support rod.

Step 3: Take a photo of the coolant reservoir

  1. Locate the coolant reservoir in the engine bay.

  2. Check the coolant level through the side of the tank.

  3. Take a clear photo showing the current coolant level.

Do not open the coolant cap if the engine is hot.

Step 4: Take a photo of the oil dipstick

  1. Locate the yellow oil dipstick in the engine bay.

  2. Pull the dipstick out.

  3. Wipe it clean.

  4. Reinsert it fully.

  5. Pull it out again and check the oil level.

  6. Take a clear photo of the oil level on the dipstick.

Step 5: Take dashboard photos

Using the steering wheel menu buttons, take photos of:

  1. Trip KM

  2. Trip Time

  3. AdBlue Level

Make sure the photos are clear enough for the On Road Care team to read.

Step 6: Email photos to On Road Care

Once finished, email all photos to:

Include your booking number and vehicle registration if available.
