If your vehicle suddenly won’t start and you see a fuel cut-off warning on the dashboard, the fuel cut-off safety system may have been triggered. This system is designed to protect the vehicle in case of a sudden jolt or impact by cutting off the fuel supply.
Why the Fuel Cut-Off System Activates
The fuel cut-off switch is a safety feature that stops fuel flow during:
- A sudden impact or accident
- Hitting a deep pothole
- A blown tyre
- Heavy or abrupt braking
When triggered, it also activates the hazard warning lights and prevents the engine from starting until reset.
How to Reset the Fuel Cut-Off Switch
Follow these two easy steps:
1. Locate the Switch
- The fuel cut-off switch is positioned under the front passenger glove box.
- Refer to the images on page 1 of the PDF guide for visual support:
- Arrows point directly to the switch location beneath the dashboard panel.
- The switch is marked with a red circle and labeled: “This is the fuel cut-off switch.”
2. Restore the Switch
- Press the rubber cover at the top center of the switch down firmly.
- You’ll feel a click when the switch resets.
- Once reset, the engine should start normally again.
What to Expect After Reset
Note: An engine warning light may appear on the dashboard after the reset.
This is completely normal and will disappear on its own within the next 24 hours.
