If your motorhome’s cruise control isn’t functioning, the most common cause is sensor interference due to dirt, dust, or debris on the external sensors.
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot and restore cruise control functionality.
Step 1: Clean the Front Bumper Sensor

How to Clean:
- Use a clean microfiber cloth and window cleaner (available at most service stations).
- Gently wipe the surface of the sensor.
- Ensure no water streaks, mud, or bugs are left on it.
Step 2: Clean the Windscreen Sensor
Location:
Mounted on the inside upper section of the windscreen, behind the rear-view mirror.
Description:
This sensor looks out through the top centre of the windscreen.
Visual Reference:
How to Clean:
- Use a glass cleaner and cloth to clean the outside of the windscreen directly in front of the sensor.
- Wipe thoroughly, especially around the top central area of the glass.
- Ensure the sensor's line of sight is clear from dust or smudges.
Step 3: Allow System Reset
After cleaning both sensors:
- Wait up to 24 hours for the cruise control system to recalibrate.
- Then, reactivate cruise control using the buttons on your steering wheel.
Tip: Make sure the vehicle is moving at an appropriate speed and you're on a straight road for activation.
