Fiat Motorhome - How to Insert your Tow Hook and Where it is Located

These Instructions explains where the Fiat motorhome tow hook is stored and how to install it into the front recovery point.

Important safety information

 Only use the tow hook for vehicle recovery. Do not use it to tow another vehicle. Before working near the road, switch on the hazard lights, keep clear of traffic, and place the safety triangle in a safe visible position if required.

Where the tow hook is located

The tow hook is stored in the vehicle tool kit underneath the front passenger seat.

1. Access the storage area underneath the seat.

2. Remove the protective panel as shown in the video.

3. Remove the black tool kit.

4. Open the tool kit and locate the metal tow hook with the large circular eye.

How to install the tow hook

1. Go to the front of the motorhome.

2. Locate the small square tow-hook cover on the lower front bumper, beside the licence plate.

3. Carefully release the cover and allow it to remain attached by its retaining strap.

4. Insert the threaded end of the tow hook into the exposed mounting point.

5. Screw the tow hook in clockwise by hand until it is firmly seated.

6. The recovery operator can then attach recovery equipment to the tow hook.

Important safety information

The tow hook should only be used as a vehicle recovery point. Recovery or towing should be carried out by a qualified roadside assistance or towing operator.

Ensure the tow hook is screwed fully into the mounting point before any load is applied.

After recovery

1. Unscrew and remove the tow hook.

2. Return the tow hook to the vehicle tool kit.

3. Refit the bumper cover, making sure the retaining strap is positioned correctly.

4. Press the cover firmly back into place.

Troubleshooting:

Bumper cover will not open

Use your fingers to release the edge of the round cover. Avoid using sharp metal tools, as these may damage the paint or plastic cover.

Tow hook will not screw in

Remove it and try again, making sure the threaded end is aligned correctly. Do not force it, as cross-threading may damage the mounting point.

Tow hook feels loose

Unscrew it and reinstall it until it is fully seated. Do not allow recovery equipment to be attached if the tow hook is not secure.
