Rover Side Door Alarm – Temporary Fix for Beeping Noise

If your Rover campervan starts beeping and shows a warning that the side door is open, even though it’s firmly shut, this guide will help you silence the alarm and continue your trip with peace of mind.

What’s Causing the Alarm?

The issue is usually caused by a weak or interrupted signal between the door contact sensor and the vehicle’s alert system. Dirt, misalignment, or a worn contact can stop the system from registering that the door is closed.

Step 1: Locate & Clean the Door Sensor

Open the sliding door and find the contact sensor, located on the inner edge of the door jamb.

Clean the Contact

  1. Wipe the contact area with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel.
  2. Do not use water or cleaning sprays.

Try closing the door again. If the alarm persists, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Apply the Temporary Fix

If cleaning doesn’t help, we recommend a temporary workaround using a stainless steel scourer to restore the sensor’s contact.

What You’ll Need

  • Essentials Stainless Steel Scourer (3 Pack) – Available at Woolworths

  • Do not use steel wool – only stainless or metal scourers (non-flammable and suitable for this fix).

Installation Instructions

  1. Take one scourer and shape it to wrap around the metal pins of the sensor (as shown in the image).
  2. Ensure it makes solid contact with the pins and stays in place.
  3. Firmly close the door.

This should suppress the alarm by creating a better conductive connection between the contacts.
