4 & 6 Berth Fiat Ducato - When & How to Refill AdBlue and Reset Procedure

Many modern diesel vehicles use an AdBlue system to reduce emissions. Below is a step-by-step guide on what to do when you receive an AdBlue warning, how to refill the system, and ensure the warning resets properly.

Understanding the AdBlue Warning Messages

Your vehicle may display either of these messages:

  1. AdBlue low level Refill AdBlue

This is a pre-warning. You are not required to refill immediately when you see this message. If you do fill at this stage, the system may not reset properly.

  2. Engine will not restart in [X] KM – Check AdBlue System

This is the critical warning. When you see a countdown in kilometres, you must refill the AdBlue tank before it reaches 0 KM, or your engine will not restart.

How to Refill the AdBlue Tank

Locate the dedicated AdBlue filling point on the side of the vehicle.

Never pour AdBlue directly into the diesel fuel tank.

You can refill AdBlue in one of two ways:

  1. At many leading brand fuel stations, look for a pump labelled “AdBlue”.

  2. Or purchase containers of AdBlue from retailers such as:

  3. Bunnings Warehouse

  4. Repco

  5. Super Cheap Auto

Your vehicle’s AdBlue tank has a 19.5-litre capacity. When refilling after a countdown warning, fill the tank completely to ensure the system resets correctly.

Resetting the AdBlue Warning

After filling the tank:

  1. Turn the vehicle to accessory mode (ignition on but engine off) and leave it in this mode for a few minutes.

  2. Start the vehicle. If the warning persists, drive for at least 30 minutes; the warning should disappear on its own.
