No TV Signal? Here’s How to Get It Working Again

If you’re experiencing issues with your TV reception, don’t worry — a few quick checks and re-tuning steps often resolve the problem. There are three types of TV units used across our motorhomes, and we’ve created simple video guides for each.

Use the instructions below to find and follow the correct process for your TV model.

Before You Begin: Location & Signal Strength

Please remember:

  • Motorhome aerials are not as powerful as home antennas.
  • Low-signal areas (especially in remote or mountainous regions) can prevent reception.
  • You’ll need to re-tune the TV each time you travel to a new location.

If all troubleshooting fails, try relocating your motorhome, then repeat the re-scan steps in the video for your unit.

Step 1: Check Your Cable Connections

Before diving into re-tuning:

  • Look behind the TV and ensure the antenna cable is firmly connected.
  • Check that no cables are loose or disconnected at either the wall socket or TV input.

Step 2: Identify Your TV Model

Look for a logo or model name on the front of your screen or in the settings menu. Choose your guide based on the match:

Tip: You may need to enable “Channel Source” as Air instead of Cable in your TV settings.

Optional: Use a Temporary Antenna

If you’re still unable to receive channels:

  • You may temporarily install a ‘rabbit ear’ indoor antenna.
  • These are available at most retailers like Kmart, Bunnings, or JB Hi-Fi.

Keep your receipt and present it at the branch when returning the motorhome for reimbursement.
