Microwave Not Working in Your Sandpiper Motorhome? Here's What to Check

If your microwave isn’t powering on during your trip, it may be due to a loose connection behind the unit. Before contacting our roadside team, follow the steps below to troubleshoot safely and easily.


Step 1: Confirm Shore Power Is Working


Before accessing the microwave:

  • Plug another 240V appliance (like a kettle or phone charger) into one of the motorhome’s wall power points.
  • If the power point works, continue to the next step.
  • If no power is available at the outlets, the vehicle may not be properly connected to shore power. Please contact our team for further assistance.


Step 2: Access the Microwave Power Plug


To reach the microwave’s power plug, you’ll need to remove the drawer directly beneath it.

How to Remove the Drawer:

  1. Open the drawer fully until it stops.
  2. Locate the release levers on both sides of the drawer rails.
  3. Press or lift these levers (see white arrow in Photo 1) and pull the drawer free from the runners.

Step 3: Locate the Power Connection


With the drawer removed, you should now see into the cavity below the microwave.

  • Follow the black power cord leading from the back of the microwave to the wall socket.
  • This area may be hard to see—try using your phone’s camera or flashlight to get a better look before reaching in.

Step 4: Check the Plug & Switch

  1. Make sure the plug is fully inserted into the wall socket.
  2. Ensure the power switch is turned ON (usually down is "on").
  3. Feel for a firm click or use your phone to double-check.

Step 5: Reinstall the Drawer


To put the drawer back:

  • Align the rails with the drawer sides.
  • Slide it back in until it clicks into place.
