How to Secure Fridge Doors and Drawers in Your Motorhome

While travelling in a motorhome, you may encounter situations where fridge doors or drawers unexpectedly open—especially on bumpy roads or uneven ground. To help you avoid spills, noise, and damage to your belongings, we recommend a simple and cost-effective solution: child safety locks.

Solution: Use Child Safety Locks

Child safety locks are widely available at supermarkets, baby stores, or hardware stores. Though designed for homes, they work perfectly to secure both fridge doors and drawers in your motorhome.

Securing the Fridge Door

Steps to Install:

  1. Clean the surface around the fridge door to ensure the adhesive bonds properly.
  2. Peel the backing off the adhesive pad of the child lock.
  3. Position the lock so that it bridges the fridge door and frame.
  4. Press firmly to fix the lock in place.
  5. Use the built-in latch to lock and unlock the fridge as needed.

Securing Drawers

Steps to Install:

  1. Clean the area on both the drawer front and the adjacent cabinet frame.
  2. Remove the adhesive backing from the lock.
  3. Place one side on the drawer and the other on the cabinet.
  4. Press firmly to secure.
  5. Use the latch mechanism to open/close the drawer.

Reimbursement Instructions

Cruisin Motorhomes will reimburse the cost of child safety locks purchased during your rental.

To request reimbursement:

  1. Keep your purchase receipt.
  2. Show the receipt to branch staff when you return the vehicle.
  3. Your reimbursement will be processed following a quick review.

Notes & Tips

  • Choose non-permanent adhesive child locks to avoid damaging the motorhome.
  • If you're unsure which lock to purchase, ask store staff for fridge or cabinet-compatible options.
  • Avoid overloading fridge doors or drawers with heavy items, which can contribute to them opening during travel.
  • Select locks that use non-damaging adhesive to prevent marks or residue.
  • Ensure the lock type is suitable for drawer or cabinet-style fixtures.
