Fiat 2 Berth - How To Clear an Airlock In your Fresh Water Tank

This article explains how to clear an airlock in the Fiat 2 Berth's fresh water system. An airlock may cause little or no water to come through the taps or shower.

Firstly watch the attached video guide and follow the below steps.

Common causes of an airlock

An airlock is typically caused by:

  1. Completely draining the fresh water tank and running it dry.

  2. Filling the tank with water pressure that is too high.

  3. Leaving the water pump running when the water is not in use.

How to clear the airlock

  1. Open the fresh water filler point on the outside of the vehicle.

  2. Remove any spray nozzle or end fitting from the hose.

  3. Insert the hose directly into the fresh water filler.

  4. Turn the external tap on gently.

  5. Open the kitchen tap and shower inside the vehicle.

  6. Allow water to run into the tank while the internal taps remain open.

  7. Wait for the water to begin flowing steadily from the interior taps.

  8. Continue until the water flow is consistent and no longer spluttering.

  9. Turn off the external tap, remove the hose, and close the fresh water filler cap.

  10. Close the internal taps once normal water flow has returned.

Important note

This process may take some time, so be patient. For major airlocks, you may need to allow up to 5-10 Minutes for the blockage to clear.

Prevention tips

Use low water pressure when filling the fresh water tank, avoid running the tank completely dry, and switch the pump off when water is not being used.
