Fridge Control Panel Frozen or 12V Not Working (Thetford)

If the fridge control panel becomes unresponsive or the 12V function stops working in your Thetford fridge during your trip, don’t worry—this can usually be resolved by following the simple reset process below.

Step 1: Locate the External Fridge Vent

  1. The fridge's electrical connection is located behind the external fridge vent.
  2. Find this vent on the passenger side of the van, on the outside panel near the middle of the vehicle.

Step 2: Access the Fridge Connection

  1. Retrieve the screwdriver stored in the toolbox under the passenger seat.
    • The toolbox is secured with a cable tie—you may need to cut or untie it to access the tools.
  2. Use the screwdriver to open the external fridge vent panel.

Step 3: Disconnect the Fridge

  1. Inside the vent compartment, locate the fridge power plug.
  2. Gently disconnect the plug to power down the fridge.

Step 4: Wait Before Reconnecting

Once unplugged, wait at least 10 minutes before reconnecting the fridge. This pause allows the control panel to reset.

Step 5: Reconnect and Test

After 10 minutes:

  1. Reconnect the fridge by plugging it back in.
  2. Close the external panel securely.
  3. Turn the fridge back on and check if the control panel and 12V mode are now functioning normally.
