A flat tyre can happen to anyone, but with the right tools and a few simple steps, you can safely change the tyre and get back on the road.
Overview
The Fiat Ducato motorhome is equipped with all necessary tools for a tyre change, stored in two main locations:
- Under the passenger seat – main tool kit
- Side compartment behind the driver’s door (external access) – spare wheel winder and extension bar
Important: Always ensure the motorhome is parked on solid, level ground with the handbrake fully engaged before beginning any tyre change. This is crucial for your safety and the stability of the vehicle while using the jack.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Locate the Tool Kit
Open the compartment under the passenger seat.
Cut the Cable Tie
Use scissors or the included tools to remove the cable tie securing the tool kit.
Remove the Tool Kit
Slide it out using the handle on the left side.
Find the Spare Wheel Tools
Open the external side compartment behind the driver’s door to access the spare wheel winding tool and extension bar.
Note: On some vehicles, these tools may be mounted to the wall behind the passenger seat instead. Please check both locations.
Unwind the Spare Tyre
Insert the winding tool from the driver’s side, just behind the mudflap, and unwind the spare tyre.
The winder is located directly next to the spare tyre under the vehicle.
Safety First – Position the Spare Tyre
Place the spare tyre under the vehicle to help prevent injury in case the jack fails.
Partially Jack Up the Vehicle
Position the jack on the designated jacking point (refer to your vehicle manual if unsure).
Jack the vehicle up lightly, just enough to prepare for loosening the nuts.
Loosen the Wheel Nuts
Loosen each nut only until the pressure releases – do not turn more than once.
Fully Jack Up the Vehicle
Raise the vehicle until the tyre is just off the ground.
Remove the Wheel Nuts
Fully loosen and remove all wheel nuts or studs.
Swap the Wheels
Fit the spare tyre, and place the flat tyre under the vehicle as a safety backup.
Begin Tightening the Nuts
Secure the wheel by hand-tightening each nut in a cross pattern.
Lower and Final Tighten
Lower the jack fully.
Use the extension bar to firmly tighten each nut.
Correct torque is 180 Nm, and correct tyre pressure is 80 PSI.
Pack Up and Notify Us
Return the flat tyre to the spare tyre holder using the winding tool.
Place all tools back into their original storage compartments.
Contact our team so we can arrange a replacement spare tyre at your next suitable stop.
